INTRODUCTION:

Robotics and automation are emerging fields, which have comparatively low penetration in India. It is necessary that we prepare ourselves for this; the Robo Club was started as a means to achieve it. Robo Club initially began as an unofficial entity functioning solely by itself as a student initiative and tried to introduce low-level robotics to students. The Club participated in IIT Chennai’s annual technical competition Shastra 2006 in two events: “Stair Climber” and “Capture the Flag”. For the details of these two machines click here. The team members who had participated in the event were mainly novice and it was gratifying to observe the success at such a huge national-level competition. Spurred on by this success, the Club began preparation for IIT Bombay’s Techfest 2007, to be held in January 2007 end. It was also realized that we quickly need to focus on core research areas and take up challenging projects with the formalization of the Robo Club, and with Prof A. Mitra, Prof A. Shaikh, we hope to take this mammoth task of conducting research. This might make us one of the few handful colleges in Pune University that has a research-oriented activity. Projects we are currently working on: 1. Boat propelled by fish-like motion. 2. Micro mouse. 3. Manually controlled machine for picking and placing table tennis balls.
